The Water Ops / Dive Team is a highly specialized unit within the Rescue Squad, it is comprised of dedicated members with extensive training in addressing water-related emergencies. This team is equipped with a wide array of tools and resources to significantly enhance their ability to handle a variety of water rescue situations. We are equipped and able to perform rescues and recoveries in varying environments such as swiftwater, flood water, deep water, and underwater. All our team members are trained to a Swiftwater Rescue II standard and our divers a certified through PADI as Public Safety Divers.

Our water rescue equipment includes:

• Diver Response Trailer: This trailer carries specialized equipment for a 10 man diver rescue team. 
• Multi-Stack Trailer: This trailer is designed for efficiently transporting boats and essential water rescue equipment, ensuring rapid response times.
• Ready-Out Trailer: Equipped with flatbottom and inflatable boats, as well as various other tools, this trailer is essential for addressing a wide range of water-related emergencies.
• 3 Rescue One Connector Boats: These boats allow sturdier and faster response times on the Tennessee River.
• Flatbottom Boats: These boats are versatile and well-suited for navigating various water environments, providing flexibility in responding to different scenarios.
• Inflatable Zodiac: The inflatable Zodiac boat offers maneuverability and can access areas that might be challenging for other vessels.
• Pontoon Boats: These boats provide stability and can be valuable in situations requiring a larger platform or when dealing with multiple casualties.

In Madison County, there are numerous bodies of water, including the Tennessee and Flint rivers, where residents enjoy recreational activities year-round. The Rescue Squad is a strong advocate for responsible boating and general water safety. The Water Ops Team is a crucial component of this advocacy, always prepared to respond to water emergencies promptly and effectively to safeguard both lives and property.
