Founded in 1963, the Rescue Squad made history as the second agency in the state of Alabama to acquire the Jaws of Life, the original and iconic tool for extrication. Over the years, our dedication to serving the citizens of Madison County has driven us to expand our training and equipment, encompassing a wide array of tools and rescue methods.

Our commitment to the community extends beyond extrication rescue; we collaborate with HEMSI, Huntsville Fire/Rescue, and various other departments throughout the county to provide comprehensive assistance. Whether it's extrication rescue, water rescue, medical response, or any other emergency support, we stand ready to answer the call.

At our Huntsville station, we maintain a minimum of two crew members on standby at all times, ensuring a rapid response to emergencies throughout the county. As one of the primary rescue agencies in the region, our dedicated teams operate Rescue 1, delivering around-the-clock service, 365 days a year. In addition, our secondary Rescue truck, supported by various vehicles and watercraft, is always at the ready when needed.

Our mission goes beyond extrication rescue; we offer a range of vital services, including:

• Medical Emergency Response: Our teams are equipped and trained to respond swiftly to medical emergencies, providing critical care when it's needed most.
• Water Rescue and Recovery: This includes comprehensive services such as Swift Water Rescue and Diving, ensuring the safety of those in distress on or near the water.

• Medical Standby for Events: Whether it's a community event, sports competition, or any gathering, our presence ensures that immediate medical attention is available if required.
